Obama: The Historic Journey

I’m not one into politics, however this past year’s election did get me involved somewhat, we talked about politics more than anything in our home while the elections were going on, even my two girls knew somewhat what was going on and it was great.

Recently we received the book Obama: The Historic Journey Young Reader’s Edition. I had seen this book in stores before and had thought about picking it up for the girls, so they could have a little ‘history’ stocked away in a great book. It would also give them a little better understanding of what went on during this election. The book is for young readers 8-12 years old, but as an adult I enjoyed the book as well. It takes you on a journey of the life and the inauguration process of President Obama.

I loved to read the book and check out the great pictures inside as well. My daughters couldn’t comprehend some of the things talked about in the book (since they’re only 3 and 5) but the pictures were amazing and they loved to look at them. It was fun being able to let the girls in on the Presidents life a little more.

Serbian priest charged in drug rehab beating

Did you hear about the torture charges that were filed against a Serbian Orthodox priest on Friday? Apparently he allegedly beat a drug rehab patient with a shovel!

SERIOUSLY?!?! A priest of all people, this is probably one of the many reasons I just can’t stick with a church or religion at all. How am I supposed to listen to someone who’s preaching the word of god yet being a hypocrite about what they preach at the same time?

I know not all priests are like this, I just have a real issue with organized religion and it seems that whenever I question it, there’s something else that pops out at me and reminds me why exactly I don’t want to get involved in it to begin with.

So this priest since has been removed from his position and could face up to five years in prison if convicted. According to him, the beatings were a necessary part of the therapy and they were carried out with the consent of the patients and their parents. If it was consensual these people must be really desperate and crazy to kick that drug habit. It’s sad that in other parts of the world you can’t find a great center to get actual help, instead they just get beat for trying to do better.

It’s sad.

Random Post...

You know how you hear things on the TV or radio, mostly on a commercial at least once and you forget about it, then a few days later you see a word or phrase or something that triggers the thought?

I’m having one of those times right now. The word mesothelioma, I remember seeing that on a commercial, probably for a certain drug or something, but for the life of me, I can’t remember the product, I can’t even remember what mesothelioma is, some sort of disease I take it but this is going to bug me and bug me for the rest of the day I KNOW IT!!

Random post, I know, but I warned you with the title….

Father's Day

We never generally do much for Mother’s Day, so I really don’t push the limits when it comes to Father’s Day either, but this year I really want to change that.

I’ve been wondering and thinking what to do for my hubby for Father’s Day and can’t come up with any real ideas. He’s a computer/cell phone geek and anything I can think of getting him just doesn’t seem like it would be enough or right. I could walk into a wholesale computers store and probably see a ton of things he would love to have, but I never know if it’s the right thing or not, so I keep searching for that perfect gift (besides the homemade ones from the girls).

What are doing for Father’s Day? What sorts of gifts do you plan on giving?

To the garage sales we go...

I tell ya, it’s been quite a while since I’ve been out actively searching for garage sales, but today we decided to take the girls and head out at 8am and do some bargain shopping! We ventured off into the world of garage sales.

I don’t get to do this much when I’m at home, I have no friends around and I don’t drive and never mind the fact that my hubby couldn’t stand to just drive around going from sale to sale, so it was a treat to head out with my best friend to get some good deals.

We saw some great things, mostly larger items that I would have loved to purchase had I been home or had a truck to haul back to the USA. A picnic table for the girls, a great bedroom set for their room, even a new tv stand that would have looked great in our living room.

Oh well, we got some good deals on some toys and books for the girls and some knick knacks for Grandma and Grandpa. It’s probably for the best, being out here for so long, I’m running out of money and there’s always something for me to do to spend that on.

Renovations Underway...

So finally things have started to happen. The kitchen has officially been painted, the bathroom is being worked on as we speak, a new vanity/sink and tile are going in. I haven't seen the pictures yet of the new look, but I can't wait.

As much as I tried to help with the picking out of items from Canada it's been hard, I've had to rely on hubby to do his best, let's just hope that he didn't screw it up or he's going to be in BIG trouble!

We've already had some arguments about things, such as tile and paint color, heck we've even argued over a hole in the wall and the new Kohler fixtures, I guess the stress and just wanting this done and over with gets to both of us. Nevermind the fact that I do really miss him, and miss home.

I hope to get some pictures up soon, at least with what I'm seeing as hubby sends them to me, I'm sure the real thing will be so much better. Now just to save up some real $$ and get some new cabinets in and more counter space!

Daily Freebies...

Well, we're still in Canada. I've been getting not much done as we've had a hell of a time with this contractor settling on flooring and other items that need to be replaced, and I'm not happy having to let hubby have the final decision either.

Trying to keep my mind off that, my best friend took me out to the gym for a great kickboxing workout yesterday. I've finally figured how to loose this weight and it's not just from using the best weight loss products either, it's about WANTING to do it more than anything else and so far, so good!

So here are your daily freebies for today.

Toss the boring bandages for some Ouchies!!

I’ve never been a huge fan of character inspired anything. If I can find an alternative 9 times out of 10 that’s what I’ll be doing but band-aids just seem to be that sort of thing that when they’ve got a character on it, they make the girls feel so much better.

When I found a new brand of bandages without displays of Dora or Spongebob all over them I was thrilled! They were still colorful and playful enough that the girls wouldn’t mind the bandage without the characters.

Ouchies was started by a dad who was sick of the boring beige bandages and came up with this super cute concept. Their motto is “Hide your wound, not your style”. The bandages come in really funky tins ($5.00) with 20 bandages inside, perfect for kids of any age’s even teens! The bandages come in three different styles:

- Teen-Ages Boy Bands (not boy bands like you’re thinking)
- Tenn-Ages Girl Bands
- Make Your Own (which comes equip with Sharpies!)

My girls loved these bandages and it really did help them with their ‘battle wounds’ a little more, especially when they could create their own personalized bandage while I was cleaning up their wound. Heck, I even like these funky colored bandages and have been seen wearing them on occasion.

My only gripe is that they are not latex free, which is a downside, I’d love to see that changed in the future.

You can find out more about Ouchies Bandages and check out their ever changing line by visiting their website at ouchiesonline.com.

Finding the perfect gift...

Being away from hubby for 3 weeks makes me miss him more and more each day. My thoughts lately have been on the upcoming Father’s Day and what we could do to surprise him and make it known that we did miss him, we do appreciate him and that we do love him. Holidays (unless it’s Christmas) aren’t really a big deal for us, I think prior Father’s Days we really haven’t done anything spectacular or even got a gift for daddy, this year we intend to change that.

Finding something that not only gives a personal touch as well as giving the recipient a choice of gifts is a pretty hard thing to do. Just a gift card won’t suffice; it’s not personal enough so why not layer your gifts? Vivabox is a new product that can do that for you. You pick the theme of the gift you want to give from their wide selection, this gives you the personal touch, it shows that you were thinking about your recipients likes and needs, this allows them to almost ‘sample’ the gifts and see if it’s something they like or not, after that, they can actually choose the gift they’d really like by using the enclosed gift card that they can redeem online to choose their final gift. Perfect for Father’s Day I think because it’s always hard to find that perfect gift for dad.

In order to actually see if this was the ‘perfect gift’ I had to see for myself. Vivabox sent me the
Coffee Talk box which included:

• Three sustainable coffees from Jazzman's Cafe
• Hazelnut Flavoring Syrup from Torani
• Gift card for a Coffee Talk Gift Menu item
• Jazz Music CD

As a coffee lover, I was pretty happy with the box, three coffees to sample and my favorite, hazelnut Torani syrup! I actually haven’t gotten a chance to redeem my gift card for a coffee talk gift menu item yet, but the choices are great. If the dad in your life is a coffee lover, this is one great box, the products included to redeem the gift card with include a variety of options that any coffee lover would love to have.
The Coffee Talk box isn’t the only gift box that Vivabox offers; there are so many different boxes for anyone, including the dad on your list (I’d say the Bar-B-Que will be pretty popular). If you’re looking for the perfect gift for Father’s Day or any birthday or holiday be sure to check out www.vivaboxusa.com.

Week 2....

We're on week 2 of being up in Canada. I really wish I brought some of my press releases and calender and such with me. I'm so behind on my blogging and can imagine that being up here for three week's it's just going to get worse as the days go by.

My traffic is going to start to dwindle, but I know my loyal readers will stick by and still be here when I'm officially back. Being home I don't get much time to get online, or near the computer at all. By the time the girls are in bed I'm pretty wiped out from our day and I hit the sack myself.

I've been updated on the construction in our home. The contractors started work on Friday and already have the new dry wall up for the ceiling put in place in the kitchen. I got to do some of the fun stuff while I was here, shopping in home depot for paint colors, new lighting fixtures, bathroom sink/vanity and new floor tiles for both the kitchen and bathroom. After 2 days of going through Home Depot to make sure I didn't miss something great. We come to find out that everything in the Canadian Home Depot is different than the American. So while I was able to find the same paint all the tile, fixtures and vanity's were all different with all different SKU numbers.

Hubby ventured into Home Depot with me on the phone and tried to find similar things to what I had picked out. I guess I'll be surprised once I get home, let's just hope it's not horrible! I'll just be glad to see all of the industrial equipment supplies gone and my house dust free and put back together.

So while I'm on my little 'vacation' I guess you could call it, please bare with me. I'll try to blog a little this week if I find the time, at least to put up some daily freebies and keep you all updated on my little renovation journey, and of course to update any winners I have to announce.

Like today, we have the winner of the $50 Gift Certificate to SWAKdesigns....

The winner is.....

Giveaway Winners!

I'm hoping online for a few to get some things accomplished. An update on myself and our house, I'm still here in Canada, it looks like I"ll be here till the first weekend in June. Our house, still a work in progress. It's all been dried out, the next contractor is just waiting for the go-ahead to start work on the finishing aspects, my new floors for both the bathroom and kitchen, as well as the new ceiling in the kitchen. We'll also be getting a new vanity for the bathroom, a paint job done on all the cabinets and walls as well. It will be nice to return to a new home almost, I just wish we didn't have to have to do it because of flooding.

So when I get back home the inside will be somewhat done, I just have to work on the outside. Lord knows that needs help! Time to go shopping for some nice new patio furniture I think!

Onto the winners of a few giveaways that have ended.

Frosted Flakes takes to the fields...

Back in January Mom Central teamed up with Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes to let everyone know about the Earn Your Stripes (EYS) field renovation program which is aimed to renovate neighborhood sports fields across the U.S. Since then, thousands of fields were nominated some with as many as 700,000 supporters! These fields have now been narrowed down to the 100 finalists and your vote will help determine the winning fields.

Based on feasibility of the field makeover, the location and age of the field, how often it gets used, how many events take place, what teams use it, the number of other athletic fields in the community, the demand, condition, and the impact a field renovation would have on the community, these 100 finalists were chosen.

From May 1st through 31st you can vote for your favorite semifinalist field, and who knows maybe your community was chosen as one of the 100 finalists, an even better reason to head over to www.frostedflakes.com and check to see if your field is in the running for a field makeover. If a field in your community isn’t there, be sure to check out the rest of them and take the few seconds to vote for your favorite.

Cooking shouldn't be frustrating....

I’m a stay at home mom, that doesn’t always mean that I like cooking, or that I even feel like cooking. Sometimes during the week I get busy and even the thought of cooking a meal seems like a chore rather than a pleasure. Sometimes even the ‘creativity’ of cooking bogs me down and it can be a challenge just wracking my brain thinking of what family-friendly meal I can come up with that night.

Recently I was introduced to the Making Life Better website which has given me plenty of great meal ideas for our home; I’ve even tweaked some to fit my diet needs. Now, Making Life Better has created recipe demo videos, featuring Jennifer Bushman, the Kitchen Coach, which offer recipe demonstrations and tips that you can watch anytime - even while cooking in your own kitchen! They offer quick and delicious recipes using high quality yet affordable and convenient foods, then mix in some fun with fun recipes and create family theme nights.

Being able to spend less time in the kitchen and more time with the family is a plus in my books. And with easy recipes like the Upside-Down Chicken Pot Pie, you can even get your family involved in making dinner since the ingredients are simple and the process is easy and quick. After dinner why not create a delicious dessert together like a Bananas Foster Sundae made with Bryers All Natural Vanilla ice cream.

The recipes and videos can be a great addition to your weeknight cooking routine, and can make it a lot of fun as well. You can also stop by their Youtube channel and check out some of the Cooking Coach Videos: www.youtube.com/makinglifebetter2009. Stop thinking of cooking as a chore and join me and countless other moms who are just in love with the idea of Making Life Better.

It's Allergy Season...

The weather has been great lately, the warm sun, and the cool breeze and all the blooming flowers, a perfect setting for…….ALLERGIES!!!! Along with spring, in my house comes sniffling and sneezing, itchy watery eyes, you name it, with all of us allergy season is in full force.
Sometimes thinking that heading indoors for relief of allergies we don’t realize that indoor levels of many pollutants may be two to five times higher than outdoor levels. I never even thought of that before, I’m sure a lot of people haven’t. Indoor pollutants are one of the top five urgent environmental risks to public health. In fact, many seasonal activities such as cooking, spring cleaning and redecorating can spread indoor pollutants. Did you know:

• Poor indoor air quality can cause a lack of concentration in school-aged children (Journal of Indoor Air)

• Every year, asthma accounts for an estimated three million lost work days for adults and over ten million lost school days for children (American Lung Association's Trends in Asthma Morbidity and Mortality)

The past president of the American Lung Association of the City of New York Dr. Neil Schachter, M.D., suggests a "home health check-up" to help make your home a healthier place to live. He recommends avoiding cleaning products that contain ammonia or chlorine, and limiting your pet's access to certain areas of the home, including the bedroom. A high performance air filter, such as a Filtrete filter, may also help improve indoor air quality. Listen to these tips and more on Dr. Schachter's podcast on www.Filtrete.com. While you're there, play the Filtrete Clean Air Fact or Fiction to test your knowledge of indoor air quality. You could win a home inspection from Steve Ramos, featured home inspector on HGTV's House Detective.

It’s recommended that you change your air filter at the start of each season, or every three months. I always forget to do this! By the time I change my filter it’s usually well past the time it needs to be changed. 3M the makers of Filtrete filters knows that busy mom’s like myself often forget this task and have since come up with the Clean Air Club. Now receive seasonal e-newsletters featuring special offers, filter change reminders, better home living tips and more. Plus, if you’re one of the first 50 people to sign up each will you could win a free bamboo plant which is a natural air purifier.

I think this is a really great idea, especially if you’re like me and always forget to change that filter, I’ve already signed myself up, and hopefully this will keep our allergies in check!

Headed to Canada....

So if you read my blog post below about what happened to us this morning you'll realize why I'm headed OUT of here....

After we got the insurance involved and the restoration and water clean up people here, we've been informed that the ceiling and floors will be coming out in the bathroom and kitchen. While it's still livable I'd rather not have the girls around all this mess while it's going on, so we're headed to Canada till the 31st.

They've already started the work and are cleaning up the basement and carpets as well as tearing out the floors.

You'll see me around a few times here and there but I'm not exactly sure how much blogging I'll get done from day to day. Oh well, I get to pick out new tile for the floors so that's a positive point right?!

Hope you all have a MUCH better weekend than I've had. But I'm thankful, it's almost like I've sent out baby announcements (not to jinx my self ACK!), lol everyone back home already knows what's going on and that I'm coming up for a few weeks and everyone (minus my brother) is excited.

What a way to wake up....

Waking up to the screams of a child saying "Oh my god there's water everywhere" isn't something you hear often, nor is it something as a parent you want to hear at all. The unthinkable pops into your head, what were these children doing while we were still asleep?

As my hubby got up to see what was going on, the thoughts in my mind were that these kids got up out of their room earlier than normal and proceeded to play in the sink. Not an unusual thing for kids to do, they've been yelled at about playing in the skin before. However, this time it wasn't their fault, after hearing my husband scream "Oh my god" I knew something was up.

I woke up to a wet carpet in the hallway, a flooded bathroom and the toilet running with water (clean thank goodness). I ran downstairs to grab some towels from the laundry room only to find it raining in my kitchen!!! I screamed the kitchen was flooded and there were cracks in the ceiling with water coming out of them, as well as water coming out of the light fixtures as well. It literally was raining in the kitchen.

After getting the upstairs bathroom mopped up we waited on the kitchen to stop raining and got to work getting the water out of there as well. All over my clean dishes on the drying rack, all over the floor, behind the stove, all over my wood table....Water just everywhere! When my husband went into the basement he was surprised by more water which had leaked into the basement from the kitchen, not as much as was in the bathroom or the kitchen itself but water non the less.

So now, we sit here with all the windows open, used the shop vac to get most of the water out of the carpet upstairs, my children wanting to know what's going on, wanting to help clean up which of course I'm trying to keep them OUT of the areas by shoving the tv in their face for once and of course they want nothing to do with it. I wait here for my husband to get back from Menards because of course this is the time where I am out of bleach to clean and sanitize with.

I decided to call my brother since he does this type of thing for a living. Cleaning up flooded/damaged homes, and he's also going to school for insurance. His suggestion was to call the insurance company because more than likely it will be covered as we'll need to rip out the sheet rock from the ceiling, probably replace the floors as well as the carpet because of mold..

I am not looking forward to this. My husband was supposed to work today but he's since called in because this is too much clean up for me to do alone while attending to the girls. So we'll call the insurance company and see what happens, at least I need to get this mess cleaned up.

What a start to a weekend.....

Time again to update your wardrobe...

It’s that time of year again. Time for the warmer weather, time to shed those layers of clothing, put on the cooler outfits, the brighter colors and bare some more skin. Summer is on the way, and for a lot of us that brings a lot of fears about our wardrobe, and since no diet pill is going to help my wardrobe, it's time to update! I don’t know about you but I’m super self conscious and finding clothing that flatters me and is still stylish at the same time is VERY important when it comes to my clothing and what I wear.

Once again SWAKdesigns.com has come to my attention with some great clothing and outfits for spring and summer, and well heck, they have clothing for all seasons that are reasonably priced, good quality and stylish at the same time. They cater to plus sizes and not just from a size 12 – 18, they carry a variety of sizes from 1 – 6x in all designs and styles.

There are so many choices from basic fashion elements, dresses, tops, skirts, pants and more. There’s something at SWAKdesigns that can fit anyone’s budgets and styles. I think that’s the one thing I’ve noticed when it comes to plus size clothing. A lot of the more fashionable quality clothing comes at a steep price that sometimes even I don’t want to pay. SWAKdesigns has quality clothing at a modest price so that every plus sized girl can afford to look good!

I managed to try out a few different items from their shop. My favorite piece is the Daphne sheer camo hooded top. When I first got this item I did notice a few things, there were a ton of stray threads and even a hole in the pocket seam. I immediately contacted SWAKdesigns and told them about the issue, they were on it and sent me a replacement within a few days that was in MUCH better condition. Great customer service, I didn’t even have to send the first top back to them. This is probably one of the most worn tops that I wear from week to week. It’s soft, comfortable and flattering. It comes in sizes 2 – 7X. This isn’t a baggy fitting shirt. It’s form fitting and very flattering.

I also received the Anastasia Interchangeable Wrap Top. This is a cool top. Have you ever had a top that fit you so perfectly you wish you could have that exact fit with multiple tops? Ever wish that perfect top could be dressed up to wear to a fancy gala in the evening or dressed down to go to brunch with the girls the very next morning? Or how about a top that would make you curves look completely amazing and the envy of many? This is the top that is a MUST HAVE in any girls wardrobe. You can check out the many different ways you can interchange this top by clicking here. My only issue is that as a short girl, this top doesn’t work too well with me, it’s more like a dress than a top, but it’s ok, I’ve re-worked it to work just perfectly for me.

I also received a pair of LPR Bootcut Denim jeans. I do find that their jeans fit a bit on the small size compared to my usual size of jeans. Also the only other suggestion I would make to SWAKdesigns is to have jeans for petite girls like myself, or have a variety of inseam sizes. As a short girl, my pair of LPR Bootcut Denim Jeans will have to be altered as they’re much too long for me to wear. However the jeans themselves are great, they have a slight stretch to them and are very comfortable and soft.

Buying online might not be the best experience at times, but I found my experience with SWAKdesigns to be great, great shipping times, great customer service and a great product. They not only ship to the USA either, check out their website www.swakdesigns.com for more information and great clothing.

Let's talk COUPONS!!!

I’ll admit, I’m great at finding freebies, and great bargains. Heck I’m even good at finding coupons online for things, what I’m not good at is actually printing out, clipping and using these coupons for said items. Even if I happened to have coupons for a great store like Dansko and save on some shoes, forget it. I either don’t want to bother with the small amount of work that needs to be done, or I forget them at home.

This week I decided to change that. I’ve searched around the internet on coupons.com and found a few great blogs with some great advice. I printed out the coupons that I would actually need/want/use, clipped them and brought them out to the store (Walmart) with me.

I did my regular grocery trip so it was a pretty big run, but I did remember to use every coupon I had. I even had some advice from one place that told me I could use two coupons (from different coupon sources) on one package of yogurt. I was stoked; I was gonna save me some cash!!!!!

Once we got to checkout I had everything organized with coupons etc. Everything was good until it got to my yogurt. “You can’t use both coupons with this” said the cashier “HUH? I was told you could”, “No you can’t” as she tried to scan the second coupon. WELL BOO!! That one little coupon put a damper on my couponing.

I saved a whopping $16 bucks on my groceries. I guess that’s good I only used coupons on things I needed and this was my first week actually using them, I did expect to save more, but maybe I’m a bit delusional. I guess I need to organize more, shop in more than one place for things as well.

So I’m a bit confused now, how do I do this? How do I use more than 1 coupon on a product, where can I find the best coupons and what are some good tips?

Bigger is better...

My girls recently found a love for fortune cookies a few months back. We don’t get to go out for Chinese food often as I have a food allergy that prohibits me going to Chinese restaurants or eating Chinese takeout. However our first trip to a Chinese buffet for a birthday dinner provided my girls with a world of new foods (to most of which they wouldn’t touch) as well as introduced them to the fortune cookie. Ever since then my parents have saved all their fortune cookies whenever they have Chinese just for the girls, and it’s a big treat for them they were always so excited to get them. I say they were always so excited because now, those little broken fortune cookies from takeout have no comparison to the fortune cookie that they got their eyes, hands and mouths on recently.

Feast your eyes on the Giant Fortune Cookie from Fancy Fortune Cookies.

This baby is HUMONGOUS! When they say giant fortune cookie they mean GIANT! I’ve never seen a fortune cookie so big in my life, and to a 3 year old and 5 year old you can just imagine what the look on their faces looked like when I opened up the box. How did they do this? Do they have a secret ray gun stocked away in their warehouse that makes things giant? Because seriously that’s what it looks like.

Covered in chocolate, smiley faces and sprinkles the Giant Fortune Cookie looked so yummy yet so amazing at the same time I didn’t want to eat it, or break it open to see my fortune, yes there’s a fortune inside just like a regular fortune cookie, thing about this fortune is that it’s customizable. If you were to purchase one of these giant fortune cookies for someone (or even yourself) you tell them what the fortune inside should say, this could make for a great surprise gift for someone!

I delicately pulled the paper out with my fortune on it I really didn’t want to break this cookie! I wrapped the cookie back up and stuck it in the fridge for safe keeping. Until the children kept bugging and bugging me to try it, we finally caved and OH MY GOSH it was DELICIOUS! Definitely not something that’s allowed on my diet, but I couldn’t help myself, so tasty, so good, so YUMMY! It was finished in a matter of days.

This is the perfect gift for just about anyone when you’re looking to give something a little ‘different’ as a gift. Father’s Day is coming up in June and I think MANY a father would enjoy chomping down on this delicious fortune cookie along with finding a surprise fortune inside.

Fancy Fortune Cookies not only customizes chocolate covered Giant Fortune Cookies but they have a variety of colors, flavors and sizes you can choose from both giant and small. It’s no wonder these fortune cookies were listed on Oprah’s favorite things TWICE!

Visit www.fancyfortunecookies.com for more information or to purchase your very own Giant Fortune Cookie.

I'm Glowing from all the fun...

The fun I used to have as a child with anything and everything glow in the dark. It seems like it’s a natural kids wonder and love to have toys that glow in the dark when you’re a child. But as adults we still need to have fun too, and glow in the dark toys aren’t just for kids anymore.

Attending a sporting event (like wrestling), or going to a cub or party, glowsticks are an accessory you’ll see on adults all over the place! Just recently we bought a bunch of glowsticks to take with us to a Disney On Ice event. Not only did the kids get them, but all of the five adults that came too got a glow stick or two themselves and we had just as much fun, if not more, than the kids themselves. They bring back those fun childhood memories that sometimes we seem to forget as adults.

An online boutique that can take care of all your glowstick needs can be found easily online by visiting www.glow-sticks.org, they provide glow products that can be used inside and outdoors equally. You can buy single pieces or bulk, and the site delivers it on the next day to your doorstep.

Glowsticks are safe for kids and fun at the same time fashionable and useful. They can keep you in the party mood or help you be safe on a night of trick or treating. How many times can you remember owning, using and playing with a glowstick as a child or as an adult? You have to admit, there’s a certain fun aspect around them that not only keeps children intrigued but keeps adults coming back for more.

Glow-Sticks.org has a great well designed site that’s very user friendly, glowsticks aside, you’ll find much more than your regular individual glowsticks, from flashing pink bunny ears to flashing tambourines, the variety is astounding, so many items, so many FUN items I’ve never even thought of before.

So with your next party, don’t be afraid, bring out the fun, bring out the glow and get your party on!

It's happened, TNA is in my blood...

As A Wrestling Addicted Mommy how can I not talk about the biggest event in TNA that’s happening in June, TNA Slammiversary!

I’ll be honest, my husband has been a TNA fan since the beginning, me however, not so much. I’ve stood by WWE and wouldn’t budge, there’s no way you’d get me to be a TNA fan….Or would you? I think I’ve caved; just recently I’ve been actively more involved in TNA and watching their shows, learning more about the wrestlers and getting excited again about wrestling.

The “Family Friendly” wrestling thing just isn’t working for me anymore, I need the real stuff back, and TNA is delivering that to their fans week after week. It's not like I need some Apple memory in my head to know what's going on. TNA is rough, TNA is wrestling! Something WWE has been lacking lately. Slammiversary is coming up and it’s less than an hour’s card ride away from us. Detroit, MI will be hosting TNA’s Slammiversary this year and A Wrestling Addicted Mommy WANTS to go… No make that NEEDS TO GO!

However, as I am a mommy, there’s a couple of matters that need to be fixed, a babysitter for the children, which looks like it’s not going to happen. So that means A Wrestling Addicted Mommy won’t get to go to a live TNA event. It makes me quite sad as I’ve been to many WWE events but to get to go to a TNA event is a little harder as they don’t travel nearly as much as WWE.

One of the big things that I wanted to get my hands on is the Ultimate Fan Xperience travel packages that they’re selling this year. Travel Packages include:

Platinum Package: Includes a guaranteed front row seat! (valued at $175)
Gold Package: Includes a floor seat! (valued at $125)
Silver Package: Includes a premium seat! (valued at $75)

* 3-night’s stay at the official TNA hotel (valued at over $800)

* A Slammin’ Saturday Lunch that is not open to the public. This is an exclusive opportunity to have lunch with the stars of TNA including Samoa Joe, Daniels, Beer Money, Inc., Lethal Consequences, and more (stars subject to change)! This is available only to people participating in this package.($60)

* Slammiversary Backstage Meet & Greet - Be the first to enter the arena on Sunday before the Pay-Per-View!
Travel Package Prices can be found by visiting the TNA Website: www.tnawrestling.com

How could of an experience is that? I’ve been to three Wrestlemania’s and NONE of their travel packages involved anything of this nature. Most of their packages seem fan involved but really it’s the same experience any fan could really get without purchasing a travel package, and what’s more is with TNA you’re actually going to get to interact with the wrestlers, they’re not hiding out in a hotel away from the fans, no, they’re staying WITH the fans.

What I wouldn’t do to get myself a travel package to TNA’s Slammiversary Seven and meet one of my favorites Consequences Creed… A girl can dream, because that’s all I’ll get to do this year.

Let's get Ready 2 Rumble!!!

I love my Nintendo Wii, it gets my butt off the couch and engaged in a lot of different games which require advanced to minimal movement. One of my favorite Wii Sports games is the boxing, but ever since I first played that game I always wanted MORE to come from it, you get a great workout with the boxing games. I play my Wii Fit Rythem Boxing quite often as well, so I can’t get enough of boxing with my Wii.

I was approached to review the newest boxing game to the Wii Ready 2 Rumble. This is a teen rated video game for Atari with the ability to create your own boxer or just select one of the many ‘crazy’ characters you can find in the game. You can also rumble in a multiplayer game vs. family/friends. I was so excited to play this game and ‘duke it out’ with the best of them.

Ready 2 Rumble has some really funny ‘celebrity’ characters that you may recognize even if their names aren’t the usual. There are also 8 different mini games you can play as well. One thing that was a big disappointment as we started to check out the game is that it’s not a WI-FI compatible game. How cool would it be to play online vs. other players around the world, Nintendo seems to be dropping the ball on their WI-FI games a lot lately and Ready 2 Rumble is no exception with that.

Game play looked like a lot of fun regardless of no Wi-Fi capability, we first started designing our own character which was a lot of fun, and very interesting, and then figuring out our moves and practicing before we headed into the ring. The arcade style graphics were ok nothing fantastic compared to a lot of other games right now, but the arcade style experience wasn’t there.

The controls were not stable at all and would keep us at a standstill as we punched and swung trying to get our character to move. I think that’s one of the most important features of a Nintendo Wii game especially when motion is involved, is that the controls have to match up and sync with the character which Ready 2 Rumble fails to do. During the tutorial we had no issues with the controls, but as we ventured into game play the controls just wouldn't respond at all and we were left there getting our asses handed to us by our opponant. We quickly gave up playing this game not because it wasn’t fun, I’m sure with some better control it would be a blast but the game gets frustrating fast when your character just stands there as your trying to get them to move in the play mode.

Ready 2 Rumble
had the opportunity to gain fans of boxing video games, but unfortunately we’ll have to bow out of this fight and retire our gloves playing this one.
