Cheerios Spoonfuls of Stories...

The girls love to read, the amount of books they own is massive, and you’ll always catch one of them just sitting around reading a book, even though they can’t read just yet.

Over the past seven years Cheerios has been doing something great with their Spoonful of Stories program which has been giving away more than 35 million children’s books by distributing them FREE inside of cereal boxes. They’ve also donated nearly $3 million to First Book, their non-profit partner that provides books to children from low-income families.

Providing children with the option to read provides them with some great creativity and imaginations and it’s great to see Cheerios realizes this and wants to be a part of it.

Not only are they encouraging reading but Cheerios is also encouraging those interested in writing, specifically children’s books. From March 16 through July 15, 2009 Cheerios is accepting entries for children’s stories which will be judged on appropriate story and content for children ages 3-8, emotional connection, writing quality, uniqueness, and read-aloud potential.

If you’re interested you can find more details about this contest by visiting www.spoonfulsofstoriescontest.com.

Thanks To: My Blog Spark
