Just Dance!!!

Today’s workout is complete!!!! I did 8 different sets of dances with my Just Dance on the Wii. It was actually a good workout and made me break a sweat! Now if you’re not going to actually DANCE and just stand there doing the arm movements, yeah, it won’t be a workout, but I LOVE to dance so I got right into it.

The controls don’t register with the Wii a lot of the time, which sucks, but is not unexpected either, for me it was more about the workout than the actual points, and it was a lot of fun!!! I think I’ll probably do this one daily, at least 3 dances for even a daily warm up to another exercise routine, I had a ton of fun!

My oldest is feeling better; her tummy seems to be not feeling ‘icky’ anymore, so even the kiddos got in on the fun! Can you tell which one is the dancer in the house LOL it’s surely NOT my oldest…

O.M.G!!!! Seriously I don't think I can get away from this.... Right now I've got last.fm streaming on my T.V. via the Xbox 360... What is the second song that comes on???? R. Kelly - I Believe I Can Fly, and you all know what happens when you stream last.fm on your T.V. via the XBox... Lovely pictures scroll though, which means that THAT lovely R.Kelly picture keeps popping up on my T.V. screen right now...

AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I think I may just kick the T.V. off the tv stand if I see that picture one more time!!

I'm off to go clean up and do some laundry and try to get that picture out of my head....

Your Shape...

I absolutely love working out with my Nintendo Wii, and with the current lineup of games that are out already and slated to come out, working out at home, on my own time is not only easy, but it’s fun as well.

On November 24th one of the newest editions to the Wii fitness craze will be available, and this is one I’m defiantly excited about! Your Shape featuring Jenny McCarthy is one of the first video games of it’s kind, it sets itself apart from the current games out there by using a camera peripheral which will allow you to project your own likeness to the game and play without the use of controllers. This works by scanning the body of the player, this helps tremendously when doing fitness games by allowing you to know if you have improper positioning. The camera and game will be able to correct your position which will in turn help you tone and slim ‘problem’ areas faster.

The game also features 480+ exercises as well as allows customization of your workout with the option to incorporate home fitness equipment such as free weights, exercise balls, resistance bands, etc. into your workout routine.

This is one game that’s on my holiday list! You can check out the game a bit more by viewing the hands-on video featuring Your Shape blogger Laurel House and celebrity trainer Kathy Kaehler who demoed the game last week during National Women’s Health & Fitness Day.

It's my party and I'll Wii if I want to...

Have a kiddos birthday coming up? Own a Nintendo Wii? Why not make the birthday a success and do something different that all the guests will enjoy.

Nintendo and 2K Play have just come out with a super cute game that’s sure to cure any birthday party boredom. Birthday Party Bash is a new game for the Nintendo Wii that not only kids will enjoy but parents too. With 20 various games and the ability to choose from party themes the birthday boy/girl and their guests will have a blast.

The game enables 12 different players to play and it makes birthday party games all that more interesting. With each game you earn decorations for your virtual party and at the end when you’ve accomplished your goal, you get to sing Happy Birthday!

The games are all family/kid friendly and loads of fun, my girl’s enjoy the game with a birthday or not. One of the other neat features of this game is that it comes with birthday invitations as well. So with your next party you’ve got your games covered as well as your invites, it’s time to have a Wii Birthday Party Bash!

Let's get Ready 2 Rumble!!!

I love my Nintendo Wii, it gets my butt off the couch and engaged in a lot of different games which require advanced to minimal movement. One of my favorite Wii Sports games is the boxing, but ever since I first played that game I always wanted MORE to come from it, you get a great workout with the boxing games. I play my Wii Fit Rythem Boxing quite often as well, so I can’t get enough of boxing with my Wii.

I was approached to review the newest boxing game to the Wii Ready 2 Rumble. This is a teen rated video game for Atari with the ability to create your own boxer or just select one of the many ‘crazy’ characters you can find in the game. You can also rumble in a multiplayer game vs. family/friends. I was so excited to play this game and ‘duke it out’ with the best of them.

Ready 2 Rumble has some really funny ‘celebrity’ characters that you may recognize even if their names aren’t the usual. There are also 8 different mini games you can play as well. One thing that was a big disappointment as we started to check out the game is that it’s not a WI-FI compatible game. How cool would it be to play online vs. other players around the world, Nintendo seems to be dropping the ball on their WI-FI games a lot lately and Ready 2 Rumble is no exception with that.

Game play looked like a lot of fun regardless of no Wi-Fi capability, we first started designing our own character which was a lot of fun, and very interesting, and then figuring out our moves and practicing before we headed into the ring. The arcade style graphics were ok nothing fantastic compared to a lot of other games right now, but the arcade style experience wasn’t there.

The controls were not stable at all and would keep us at a standstill as we punched and swung trying to get our character to move. I think that’s one of the most important features of a Nintendo Wii game especially when motion is involved, is that the controls have to match up and sync with the character which Ready 2 Rumble fails to do. During the tutorial we had no issues with the controls, but as we ventured into game play the controls just wouldn't respond at all and we were left there getting our asses handed to us by our opponant. We quickly gave up playing this game not because it wasn’t fun, I’m sure with some better control it would be a blast but the game gets frustrating fast when your character just stands there as your trying to get them to move in the play mode.

Ready 2 Rumble
had the opportunity to gain fans of boxing video games, but unfortunately we’ll have to bow out of this fight and retire our gloves playing this one.

Sharpen the Mind, Shape the Body!

The new year is here, that means a lot of us have some new years resolutions, including myself! Mine, to be a healthier person, loose some weight, and be able to be a better mother to my children. I've been doing great so far as you can see from my 'progress reports'.

I've lost a total of 7lbs so far since I've started my journey to a new me! I'm very excited, and besides my diet, the one thing I have to thank for this.....My Wii Fit! I use it daily, for at least 30 minutes a day and I can say, it gives you a GREAT workout! I can't wait to get my hands on a few more games like My Fitness Coach and Jillian Michaels Fitness Ultimatum. Just a few more games to help me reach my goal.

Gamestop not only stocks the above titles that I'm hoping to purchase next, but they want to help you experience person growth through the world of gaming and have come up with the “Sharpen the Mind, Shape the Body” program where you can find a wide variety of games to help keep you, a little healthier, they're also offering a special incentive:
“As a special incentive, all shoppers who spend $35 or more on designated products will receive a free 12-month trial subscription to their choice of Cosmopolitan, Marie Claire, Redbook, Good Housekeeping or Esquire.”
Check out Gamestop to learn more about their program and view the games that are available.
