Wordy Wednesday

So I decided to start doing something a little different on my blog. I’m going to start doing something called Wordy Wednesday. Each Wednesday I’ll talk about a topic that one of my readers give me, so be sure to comment on each weeks Wordy Wednesday with a topic for me to write about the next week.

This week I’m taking a topic that my lovely friend Lauren gave me. My hatred for chest hair!!! It seems like an odd hatred to have but it’s one I have none the less. Where it stems from I have no idea, but just the thought, just the look of it turns me off and makes me gag.

Take for instance my friend Elijah. Before we became friends I had a huge crush on him, yes, he’s a former WWE Superstar. Anyways, his previous look was great, nice built body, soft, sleek and DAMN he looked good. Well since being released from WWE and him trying out a new ‘gimmick’ he’s transformed into hmmm some could say…. A Bear! I can’t even look at his pictures the same anymore. I haven’t said anything to him directly (and Elijah, if your reading this I do love you dearly), but that rug on his chest NEEDS TO GO!!!! Compare the following pictures….. On the left we have hot Elijah with a sleek hairless chest….On the right, we have MAN HAIR! A rug perhaps attached to this formerly fine man’s body…. You compare and let me know what’s more attractive, because the chest hair is just not.

I don’t see how some women can even bare to be around it. Running their fingers through some man’s chest hair ICK GROSS… I guess that rules out any kissing or licking of the chest, do you get it stuck in between your teeth? ~SHUDDERS~ I can’t do it ladies, I just can’t.

Lucky for me Rodney has VERY LITTLE chest hair. I have noticed though, as he gets older these little stray hairs seem to be popping up… I’ve requested nicely a few times that he needs to start shaving or waxing and if he doesn’t adhear to that request soon, I think he might find me on top of him with a bit of wax and some strips to get them off…..

What are your thoughts? Yay or Nay for chest hair? And don’t forget, leave me a topic for next week’s Wordy Wednesday!

Wordless Wednesday

Today I truly am at a loss for words.....MORE SNOW?!?!?!?!?!! We don't NEED more snow... UGH!! I can't wait for spring....

CPSIA Blog In

I wanted to take the time to post this as part of the CPSIA Blog In. It was written by Etsy sellers chichiboulie and Winklepots. If you'd like to participate in the CPSIA Blog In today, please feel free to recopy this post (please give credit to chichiboulie and Winklepots!) or post your own thoughts about CPSIA.

As parents and concerned citizens I’m sure most of us at one time or another have been confronted with the question of lead poisoning. But have you asked yourself what your government is doing to protect your children from lead contained in toys? The answer? They're banning toys, taking books from schools and libraries, hurting low income families, killing entrepreneurial spirit and risking putting the economy in an even greater depression than we've seen in decades. I'd like to introduce you to their solution: the CPSIA.

Do you know about the CPSIA? No? Then I ask you to take a few minutes to find out about it.

The CPSIA stands for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act, a new set of laws that will come into effect on 10 February, 2009 and will impact many, many people in a negative way. Make no mistake, this is very real. View it for yourself. If Forbes, the American Library Association and numerous other media are paying attention, perhaps you should too.

How will these new laws affect you? Well, here are a few examples:

To the Parents of Young Students:
Due to the new law, expect to see the cost of school supplies sky rocket. While those paper clips weren't originally intended for your student to use, they will need to be tested now that your 11-year-old needs them for his school project. This law applies to any and all school supplies (textbooks, pencils, crayons, paper, etc.) being used by children under 12.

To the Avid Reader:
Due to the new law, all children's books will be pulled from library and school shelves, as there is no exemption for them. That’s okay though, there's always television. Our children don’t need to learn the love of reading after all.
Article from the American Library Association

To the Lover of All Things Handmade:
Due to the new law, you will now be given a cotton ball and an instruction manual so you can make it yourself since that blanket you originally had your eye on for $50 will now cost you around $1,000 after it's passed testing. It won't even be the one-of-a-kind blanket you were hoping for. Items are destroyed in the testing process making one-of-a-kind items virtually impossible. So that gorgeous hand-knit hat you bought your child this past winter won’t be available next winter.

To the Environmentalist:
Due to the new law, all items in non-compliance will now be dumped into our already overflowing landfills. Imagine not just products from the small business owners, but the Big Box Stores as well. You can't sell it so you must toss it. Or be potentially sued for selling it. You can't even give them away. If you are caught, it is still a violation.

To the Second-Hand Shopper:
Due to the new law, you will now need to spend $20 for that brand new pair of jeans for your 2-year old, rather than shop at the Goodwill for second hand. Many resale shops are eliminating children's items all together to avoid future lawsuits.

To the Entrepreneur:
Due to this new law, you will be forced to adhere to strict testing of your unique products or discontinue to make and/or sell them. Small businesses will be likely to be unable to afford the cost of testing and be forced to close up shop. Due to the current economic state, you'll have to hope for the best when it comes to finding a new job in Corporate America.

To the Antique Toy Collector:
Due to the new law, you'd better start buying now because it's all going to private collection and will no longer be available to purchase. “Because the new rules apply retroactively, toys and clothes already on the shelf will have to be thrown out if they aren't certified as safe.”

To the American Economy:
Already struggling under an economy that hasn’t been this weak in decades, the American economy will be hit harder with the inevitable loss of jobs and revenues from suppliers, small businesses and consumers. The required testing is far too costly and restrictive for small businesses or individuals to undertake.

To the Worldwide Economy:
Due to this new law, many foreign manufacturers have already pulled out of the US market. You can imagine the impact of this on their businesses.

If you think this is exaggerating, here is a recent article from Forbes

And for those of you prepared to be stupefied and boggled, The New Law.

Valentine's Day...

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, do you have any idea what your going to get your husband? Boyfriend? Girlfriend? Or Wife? We don’t usually celebrate Valentine’s day too much, but this year since we actually financially can afford to, I figure why not!

Now, the question is, what do I get my husband? What sorts of Valentine's Gifts do you get for a man? I mean I know he’s not really into it, he’s not the mushy romantic type, but I’d love to embarrass him and have some flowers, roses, gifts or candy sent to his work. He’d get the awww how cute from all the female co-workers and perhaps a snicker from the males. Is it so evil of me to want to send him something just to embarrass him a little at work?

Not only that, but I do want to show him that I do love him and I do appreciate him, and send him a surprise for once, because I know this is something he wouldn’t be expecting, especially at work, that’s probably one of the last places he would expect to get anything. Now the question is, what do I get him? I’m thinking flowers might be a bit too feminine so maybe a cookie bouquet or candy of some sort. What are you getting your significant other for Valentine’s Day?

I Did It!!

I finally hit the first 10 lbs of my weight loss journey!! After working out today on my Wii Fit, I did my body test as usual and I went down another .9 lbs from yesterday, which means I officially hit a loss of 10.6 lbs since I started my weight loss.

I'm so extremely happy you don't even know. Ten pounds isn't a lot, I still have 92 lbs to go to hit my first goal, but 10 lbs. is a major start and defeat for me. I can do this, I have been doing this, and I will continue to do this...

With a slight change in my diet, counting my calories and exercising daily on both my Wii Fit and using the great demo's and videos on Sparkpeople.com I've done this!!! My motivation is there, the fact that I've seen the numbers go down is a major motivator as well, I can start to feel a difference and I'm loving it! I can't wait until I hit the 20 lbs mark... Oh my goodness how happy I'll be!

Let your rooms speak to you...

Sometimes a picture isn’t worth a thousand words. That’s when sometimes words can be the only way to express yourself. Why not let your rooms speak for you, let it give you inspiration, emotions and transform your living space.

Sticky Words Vinyl Lettering not only helps you decorate your home with wall phrases and quotes but they help you transform your room while you express yourselves a little differently. Vinyl lettering wall phrases and quotes seem to be the newest trend in home décor right now, and I can certainly see why.

Using pre-designed words or even customizing a phrase yourself transforms your room to give it a little more of yourself, or to help you feel inspired. Vinyl wall quotes have a great look to them, something different than a picture or painting but still beautiful artwork at the same time.

Sticky Words Vinyl Lettering arrives in 1-2 pieces for an easy application on your walls. It’s just like putting up a big sticker on your wall, and it looks beautiful. My favorite quote on their site is from their Master collection that says “Friends Yesterday, Lovers Today, Soulmates Forever” and it is stuck on our wall proudly above our bed. The application was so easy, once we figured out where to place it, we stuck it up on the wall with no issues at all. I wish they were reusable but they’re not. When it comes time to paint our room, removal of the vinyl is simple and I can just order a new one as the prices are very affordable.

You’ll find so many different wall phrases and quotes on the Sticky Words Vinyl Lettering site, there’s a quote/phrase for every room in your home, and you can even customize a quote specifically for you and your family.

Check out Sticky Words Vinyl Lettering and all the beautiful vinyl designs they have to choose from by visiting their website: www.stickywords.net

WIN IT!!!!

Want to win a beautiful vinyl wall quote or phrase for one of the rooms in your home? Simply head over to the Sticky Words website and take a look around. Then come back here and leave me a comment on which design you would choose if you won (you may choose a pre-designed phrase of your choice, custom designing and monogram tiles are not available for the giveaway).

Green Cleaning Wipes...

I’ve done many reviews in the past for Green Works products from Clorox, I’ve loved every product I’ve tried so far and have even switched from some of my other products over to the Green Works line. I was happy to see that their newest product is something I use daily.

Green Works now has Natural Biodegradable Cleaning Wipes! The new lines of cleaning wipes are biodegradable unlike other wipes that you may be using in the home. They are made from 100% cellulose fibers and are derived from renewable farm grown trees. I use so many wipes this is great to hear, I can just imagine how many things just waste away in a landfill including cleaning wipes and products.

The Green Works Cleaning Wipes will come in the canisters like you normally see and smell great while you’re cleaning. They do just as good of a job as any of the other brands out there that I have used in the past. They work on grease, grime, dirt, soils and any other messes you might find around the house such as the kitchen and bathroom. You can use them on counters, appliances, stainless steel, sealed granite, chrome, cooktop hoods, sinks and even toilets. I’d love to see some more scents added to the green works line of products and can only wait in anticipation as to what they come up with next. I think this is yet another thing that I’ll be switching to the Green Works line for.

I almost forgot... I have to pick a winner for the Sassafras Mini Baking Kit... Good thing I did this before I left because I won't be on-line all weekend (or at least I'll be TRYING to not be on-line all weekend) while we're in Canada.

The winner of a Mini Baking Kit from Sassafras is.....

Don't Use Geek Squad...So mad right now...

Please pardon me while I vent a little....Geek Squad knows absolutely nothing and are idiots.....

Rodney went and picked up my laptop this morning at Best Buy (we ordered it on-line as store pick up) since he had to work all day and we were headed to Canada this weekend he didn't want the hassle of creating restore disks himself and taking all the trial software and all the junk that comes on a new computer off.... He wanted to be able to pick it up after work and bring it home to me so I could use it right away without having to deal with all that crap.

So he paid the stupid Geek Squad (after I had said why bother we could do it ourselves) to create a restore disk, and optimize the computer and take all the trial software and junk off it....

So he hands over my brand new computer to them, in the sealed box still... so you know they had to open it up and you knew it was a BRAND NEW NEVER OPENED computer..... This happened at 10 this morning... He finally gets a call from them at 8:30pm 1/2 hr before they close that the computer is ready. He rushes out of work to go get it so I have it tonight....Plans for tomorrow were to leave AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE to head to Canada for the weekend.

Rodney gets home, of course I open up my laptop and turn it on... First thing that pops up is something for Norton asking us to register our trial version... Umm... That's supposed to be gone... OK whatever they missed something.. I go looking around the computer since it's Vista and i"m not familiar with it... I find trial versions of EVERYTHING on there, they didn't take a THING off of it...All they did was create the restore disks, they didn't do a thing else, and we paid for this????

So I look at the receipts and the sheets of what they did... It says NEW IN BOX computer on the invoice, and then says that they created the restore disks which they did... then it says that they cleaned up temporary files, ran scandisk and did a defrag the computer.... Ummm why in the WORLD would you need to do that on a BRAND NEW COMPUTER??????? And it doesn't state that they did ANYTHING else...

So Rodney calls of course they're closed so he called Geek Squad and talked to a supervisor..We have to take the computer BACK to the store now and he said to either get them do what they were supposed to do, or demand our money back..... Yea I think we'll be demanding our $60 bucks back... Thing that sucks, this puts us back 4 hours or more on our trip... Best Buy doesn't open until 10am.. We were hoping to leave by like 7am, I'm SO PISSED right now...

If we left at 7am I would have been home (my parents) by noon, we're coming back Sunday so it's not like it's a long trip that's why I wanted to leave EARLY.. Now we'll leave after 10am and probably will get there around 3/4 or later who knows ...

UGH... Stupid Geek Squad, I always said they were not worth a dime, they're just a bunch of kids and this proves that beyond a doubt, I've seen so many complaints about them before and now I must have one too. Ugh! DON'T USE GEEK SQUAD!

Park City... The place to Ski and have family fun...

I'm not really a fan of winter. We don't do much, I don't like the cold, but this year the thought has crossed my mind to get out there and do something. Something fun for the entire family, something new... I thought about going skiing... Now when Rodney heard that he shot me right down, probably not the best sport for the woman that has really bad ankles, so I guess that thought is gone...

If we had decided to do something like that, one of the best places to go probably would have been Park City Mountain Resort in Park City, Utah. This place has something for all levels of skiers and snowboarders, from the tween who wants to spend all day in the terrain park, to the adults who want to ski Jupiter bowl, to even the youngest of skiers getting on the lift for the very first time. Park City offers family fun and adventure for all. Making it easier to plan your time in Park City you can jump onto their website and print out one of the Family Mountain Tours that make it easy for a group with varying ability levels to navigate the mountain together, taking the guess work out of where you should be headed to next.

Park City also offers an industry leading Kids Signature 5 Program that guarantees no more than five kids in each class. They also offer great off-mountain activities such as the Alpine coaster, visiting Gorgoza park to enjoy lift-served tubing or mini snowmobile rides around a track for kids 5 to 12 years old. There's also the historic town of Park City which has over 100 restaurants and bars located just 35 miles from the Salt Lake City International airport.

This sounds like a wonderful place to visit, even if you don't ski or snowboard, I think we'll have to look into this for a winter vacation sooner than later. If your thinking of checking out Park City don't forget to check out the new The Adventure blog that will give you insights from other mom's who have visited Park City before and give you tips for your trip there. While your on the blog don't forget to enter the drawing for a Family Winter Vacation for four (two adults and two kids, 12 and under) to Park City, Utah that includes 3-nights lodging, 4-days of lift tickets and ski/snowboard school for the kids.

What a great vacation that would be for one lucky family!

A House Full of Sickies...

A few weeks ago the entire house was sick, what's worse than that? The girls were miserable and couldn't breath, had so much congestion it was just not a fun time.

Thankfully Vicks came to the rescue. The first thing to do was make sure the girls were comfortable while they slept. The Vicks GermFree Humidifier was first on my list to drag out. Simple set up, easy to use and nice and quite while they sleep. There's two tanks, one on each side so that you know you're humidifier will work well past the night. There's also a patented UV light chamber that kills up to 99.999% of bacteria, mold and spores in the water vapor that enters the air. There's also a spot for the use of Vicks VapoSteam which is placed inside of a small cup on the top of the humidifier. The level of humidity is also controlled by a knob on the front of the humidifier which is great. I can see why pediatricians recommend running a humidifier to help sooth cough symptoms and clear up stuffed noses, the girls were sleeping soundly all night.

One of the things I love to use when the girls are sick is the Vicks Soothing Vapors, when you don't have the Vicks VapoSteam to place inside a humidifier the Soothing Vapors are great, they just plug into any wall outlet and give you the soothing vapors of Vicks as they clear your airways and let you sleep soundly. As a family when we're sick you'll find one of these in everyone's bedrooms. There's also a little green glow that comes along with it so it's great for a nightlight for a child's room. They're easy to refill and they come with 5 pads to start out with and each pad lasts up to 8 hours.

My newest love though has to be the Vicks Digital ComfortFlex Fever InSight Thermometer. I'm a worry wart and am always curious how high of a fever too high is, well now I don't have to worry about thinking when I take a temperature, this is also perfect for new parents who often worry about temperatures as well. The thermometer helps you determine when a fever is getting better or worse simply by the color changing display. The readings are very accurate and give you a reading in about 8 seconds. There's even a memory recall to help you keep track. This thermometer has given me a piece of mind and takes the worry out of taking a fever.

All these great advances in technology for when it comes to being sick, makes it just a little more comfortable and easy to bare.

Healthier Living ...

Healthy living isn't the easiest thing to do, but having things at home to help you out makes it much easier. When the whole family is eating healthy it helps me with my weight loss but it also makes everyone feel better in general and the girls just love the new things we're trying.

One of my newest things to try out was to make our own juice with the Lexen Manual Healthy Juicer I received. Although this is marketed as a manual wheat grass juicer you can juice just about anything with it. There are so many benefits to juicing but sometimes the electric juicers can just be too big, too bulky and the set up and clean up can be a bit pain.

The Healthy Juicer from Lexen is so easy to use, is nice and small so it takes up less room, and clean up is a breeze. The Healthy Juicer provides healthier juicer provides healthier juice than other juicers out there. It has a specially designed auger which easily accepts pieces of fruits and veggies and does a better job at crushing through plant cell walls to give you the maximum amount of juice along with all the nutrients.

With the Lexen Healthy Juicer being on the small side you do have to load up your hopper frequently with the fruits/veggies that you're using, compared to an electric juicer. Turning the handle is super easy with leafy veggies so I was a little worried when trying harder fruits/veggies like apples and carrots but I was pleasantly surprised that there was very little effort involved, just remember the smaller the pieces are cut up, the easier it is to turn the handle.

Cleaning up was easy, just rinsing off the pieces and putting it back together in a snap. The girls really enjoyed being able to make our own apple/orange juice, and we even mixed up a few fruits/veggies as well which they enjoyed to my surprise.

If your looking for a juicer for your home I highly recommend the Lexen Healthy Juicer, I've had one of those big electric juicers in the past, and currently still have it, it's just now in the basement full of dust because of how big and hard it was to use and clean up. I love my Lexen Healthy Juicer and we use it quite a bit.

A day in history I'll never forget...

Such a great day... It's been overwhelmingly emotional, a great day and it's been great to witness history. I haven't done a thing but watch CNN and all the news surrounding the day. I'm tired I can't even imagine to think how our President and First Lady feel.

I saw a video for Jay-Z History today and it's a great video to sum up today and the feelings most people are feeling...

Great video, great song. I'm off to bed for the night...Tomorrow is a new day, a new beginning for the country and the world, tomorrow starts a lifetime of change.

Inauguration Cupcakes

Well, I did it! I made my Inauguration cupcakes for tomorrow! They came out GREAT!!! The blue wasn't as dark as I wanted, and the girls of course had to have PINK cupcakes and not blue because "blue is for boys" lol, but I got them done.

I also made cupcakes for Rodney to take into work with him. And, for myself (and for everyone else) I made the cupcakes a little more 'calorie/diet friendly'. The cupcakes are 93 calories each (add a few more calories for the frosting though). I found a recipe the other day to use soda/pop with cake mix to make the cupcakes. Very odd I thought but heck if it saves me calories and I'm able to have one without the guilt, I'm all for it.

So today I bought 2 different cake mixes, one vanilla and the other chocolate. We decided to use original citrus Fresca with the vanilla and to use Cherry Coke Zero with the chocolate. The recipe is really basic:

Easy Cupcakes

Ingredients
1 box of cake mix (your choice of flavor)
12 oz. diet soda
2 egg whites

Directions
Mix all ingredients into a bowl and mix. Pour into cupcake paper (which have been sprayed with PAM) and cook in the oven @ 350 until done.

Very simple, very easy, and VERY yummy!! I must say I'm proud of my creations.

I'm now off to bed... I probably won't be around much tomorrow as I'll be glued to CNN most of the day, cleaning up and getting ready to head to Canada in a few days as well. So ENJOY the day tomorrow, witness history, and witness the start of great beginnings for this country!

Fashionable Crocs? Is there such a thing?

What can I say, I just can't condone or even fathom ever wearing those big, plastic shoes called Crocs. I mean if your kids, fine, but adults, come on, there's better and more stylish things out there to wear. I can understand wearing them in certain places, like the garden, or the hospital, but wearing them as your shopping or on an outing....Not a good look...

However, if you must wear Crocs make them fashionable. Have you seen the great shoes that Crocs makes for women? The beautiful boots and heels that will make any woman gasp with excitement. You By Crocs is what I'm talking about.

You by Crocs are a beautiful, luxurious leather shoe made to go with any outfit you could own. When you get your new pair of shoes, you'll find them each encased in their own soft cloth shoe bag. When I first received my Crocs and took them out of their boxes and bags, I couldn't wait to get them on my feet. Not only were they beautiful but the quality of them were amazing.

Once I slipped them on, I was in heaven, these have to be the most comfortable pair of heels I've ever worn. With padding inside of the shoe in both the heel and ball of the foot, it helps keep a womans feet comfortable and from getting those sore feet so fast when you're wearing those cute heels. What impressed me even more, on the outside sole of the shoe, there's even more padding, to help you from slipping and sliding on those slick floors, that was impressive!

The only real thing You By Crocs has in common with the original Crocs shoes is something called Croslite Technology. This is Crocs revolutionary proprietary closed-cell resin. This Croslite material enables Crocs to produce comfortable, lightweight ergonomic, anti microbial, odor resistant and recyclable shoes. This is what helps make the You By Crocs shoes as comfortable as they are.

I just love my Crocs, I can't rave about them enough to family and friends. Great quality, comfortable and stylish for a reasonable price what else could a woman ask for! My Venice pair is by far my favorite so far, it includes a leather lined croslite footbed with extra padding in the ball of the foot and heel, they're a shiny patent leather and fully leather lined shoe that has an over-sized front strap with adjustable buckle, it's a high fashion twist on the traditional Mary Jane. The shoe is a 3 ½” heel, and I've never been more comfortable in a pair of shoes.

Check out the You By Crocs website, right now they've got a great sale going on, so don't pass up the chance to have a comfortable and fashionable pair of Crocs.

Valentine's Day

It's almost here.... Valentines Day! I know, I know, a lot of people just say it's just another Hallmark holiday, it doesn't mean anything and I'm usually in agreement with that, this year though I have a different tone. I want to express my love for my husband, and (if he knows whats good for him) I love to see his love expressed to me. Yes it's happens on non Valentines days too but there's just something special about it this year....Maybe its because this is the first year we can actually enjoy the holiday and can afford to get each other something.

So what are you're plans for Valentines Day? Anything special that you and your significant other are going to do? What about gifts? Do you send them Valentine's Day flowers, or get them chocolates, or do something else special with or for them? What about your kids, anything special for them? I've never thought of doing anything for the girls, maybe that's a new trend we'll start this year as well.

I know I may be placing a call to ProFlowers and ordering up a surprise for my hubby at work, how embarrassed he would be to get flowers at work, I can hear the aww from all the females he works with now.

A Full House of Gamers

It's no question that I love my Wii Fit. But I would love to venture on and check out some more systems as well. Whenever I visit my parents I'm always amazed with the Xbox that my brother owns, I wouldn't mind having one either, so I'm trying my chance at winning an XBox 360 Elite for my family.

You can try to win it too (I guess I'll be nice lol)... Head over to This Full House where you can enter to win an Xbox 360 Elite for you and your family. Giveaway closes January 20th.

A word of caution for parents..Elmer's Art Stations..

This Christmas the girls got a ton of gifts, one of the ones they were more excited over was the Elmer's Art station that they each got. My girls love crafts, love to draw and paint so this was great. They both got their own art station Lyric got a Disney Princess, and Aria got her Tinkerbell.

Christmas has come and gone but today was the first day we got to open up the art stations. As the girls were opening the Disney Princess station Lyric came running to me crying. Why was she crying? She showed me her thumb which was now covered in blood. As she was crying and I was getting her cleaned up I asked her what happened, she said that the paint cut her. Paint? How in the world could paint cut her?

We then walked over to the table they were playing at and she showed me the Castle that contained the water colors she was going to paint with. She said "the blue paint cut me". As I looked at the castle the paints were raised up to where the corners of the paint were sticking out and low and behold it sliced her thumb open. I've since written to Elmer's about this, to inform them of this issue with their Art Stations. It was more than just a little cut, she's got a nice slice in her thumb from it.

So I just wanted to pass on the caution to parents if you may have gotten this for your children, take a look at the paints before you let them use it and make sure there's no sharp edges on them that are raised and can cut your little ones fingers.

3 more days....

Right now I'm watching CNN and listening to this wonderful man speak...They're in Philadelphia right now and kicking off the train ride to DC (gosh I wish how I could be on that)...

I dunno, I'm just rambling, but I can't believe the things I've gone through with this. When I moved to the US I came in while Bush was president, I was here when he was elected the 2nd time, but I've never been so involved in politics until Barack Obama. I came from not liking this man, to loving him. The more I let go of Hilary and really read and looked into his politics and policy's and him as a man, and father, the more I became to like him, and in 3 more days this man will be the President of the United States.

I'm so proud that the country elected this man, I'm so happy, and excited for the Inaugration on Tuesday. There's just a joy and a feeling of change, and a feeling of relief as well, knowing that this country could elect someone like him, someone who cares about our country, about our families, about our children is just amazing.

I've been in the US for almost 7 years now, and I can tell you I have a love/hate relationship with this country, I'll be honest about it, up until this election, up until this time in our lives, I've wanted to move back to Canada, I've honestly hated this country up until that point, and maybe it's a harsh thing to say, but I can be honest and I can say that my LOVE for this country has now been flourishing.

I hope that within the next 3 years to actually now go and apply for my citizenship. I want to make sure that when Obama's 4 years are up, I can help make a difference, I can help this country and I can have my voice heard, it's my goal to keep this man in office as long as we can and by applying for my citizenship I can make sure that the next chance we have for a presidental election, I can take part in it.

For some, it might not be a big deal, but for me, to have my mind changed from not wanting to have my citizenship in this country (and just continue to be a permanent resident) to now wanting to get my citizenship is a big defeat, and Barack Obama is a part of that.

The Wrestler...

Now what kind of wrestling addict would I be if I didn't talk about the movie The Wrestler. Recently Mickey Rourke who plays Randy “the Ram” Robinson (the main character) in the movie won a Golden Globe, and in my opinion it was well deserved.

Randy “The Ram” Robinson is an aging professional wrestler who, like a lot of them in the business now, is trying to keep his career going by wrestling in small circuit indy rings and federations in smaller than used to venues. You follow the life and hardships of Randy through his aging career, and problems with his own family life outside of wrestling. A main piece of glue to his life ends up being a stripper played by Marissa Tomei who helps him realize some things he needs to fix, like the relationship with his daughter.

I thought the movie was very realistic when it came to portraying the professional wrestling business, even those in the business themselves will tell you that. The hardships they go through, the way their lives seem to be swept out from under them, how the business takes a toll, it's all a great portrayal.

Rourke was trained by Afa the Samoan for this movie, and the training seemed to pay off. Rourke played off the moves and wrestling hits and misses like he's been doing it his entire life. You came to believe that Randy was a real life professional wrestler as you went on through the movie and followed Randy through to the end of his career.

The movie is a must see for any wrestling fan or those who are just fans of great movies. The movie was directed by Darren Aronofsky who did a great job giving attention to detail, keeping pace on the movie and developing the characters. You learn a lot about the wrestling business including some things behind the scenes the professional wrestling industry would love to hide.

This movie will definitely be added to our collection, it's a must see! Check out the trailer below:

Balance for Children

Water....It's one thing I probably don't drink enough of. I'm pushing myself to drink at least 64oz a day, and for me that's a big struggle. I don't know what it is, but water just doesn't do it for me. This year is a new year and a time for a healthier me, so water is going to be a big deal in this house from now on. Thankfully my girls are a little different from me. They'll drink whatever you give them, even if it is *gasp* plain ol' water!

Balance Water Company
has provided mom's with a great bottled water, Balance for Children. Now I know your probably thinking about what flavors the water comes in since it is for kids, but there isn't any flavors to the water, it's just that....water. There's no flavors, colors, preservatives, artificial additives, sugar, or calories. What there is inside the water though, is very unique. Something I've never heard of or seen in water before. In Balance for Children water you will find 4 different Australian flower essences, yes that's right... Flowers! Balance for Children uses the essence of the Bush Fuchsia, Crowea, Black-Eyed Susan and Paw-Paw which all help restore balance and promote calmness and focus in children without disrupting their natural energy.

I was a little standoffish at first, I mean, flowers in the water? It said that there was no flavor but I just couldn't help but think of there being any, so the mean mom that I am had the girls try it out first. Hey, it's kids water best have the kids try it first right?! Well after no yucky faces and them just saying “Ahhh cold water” I decided to try a bottle myself. To my surprise, there's no flavor, no aftertaste, it just tastes like clean, refreshing water. In our pack of 6 bottles the girls ran through them quickly, they loved the easy to hold bottles and the ability to have bottled water all for themselves.

Balance for Children comes in a colorful 6 pack carrier which contains 6 – 13.5 fl oz (400 ml) bottles and retails for $7.49 - $7.99 in stores such as Toys R Us. Balance's complete line of products include: Balance for Women, Balance for the mind, Balance for travel and of course Balance for Children.

You can learn more about the Balance line of Waters by visiting their website balancewater.com
