Ok, I admit, I’ve been pretty lazy lately… I have a ton of things I need, and would LIKE to do around this house. I even have things like picture frames, vinyl wall graphics, paint and even Kohler kitchen faucets. I’m able to redo some of the house, make it look nice, but every time I think about doing it, I find something else to do…
I need HELP to do it…. I need my hubby to have a day or two off to HELP ME do it, because lord knows I’m not going to get it done myself. I’d like to say I’m a DIY kind of gal, but really… I’m not…
I would however love to find some easy, quick DIY projects that I could do alone in my spare time to make the house look just a little nicer… Do you have any suggestions?

A Great Night Out at bd's Mongolian grill

We just recently got a brand new restaurant here in Toledo, Ohio called bd's Mongolian Grill. One reason why I wanted to try out bd’s Mongolian Grill was because of their allergy station. Most times I cannot eat Asian cuisine at restaurants simply because of my shellfish allergy, they don’t accommodate for it at all, however bd’s Mongolian Grill does just that, with a special allergy station in back for those with food allergies or for vegetarian diners.
bd’s also keeps on hand an ingredient list for all of their sauces and other foods so that if you do have an allergy, you can see exactly what it is you’re eating, the perfect place for those of us with food restrictions. The place was packed! We were seated after about a 5 minute wait and explained how it worked since it was our first time at the restaurant. Think of it as a stir fry buffet. You’re given a bowl, and you head to the ‘buffet’ stations to fill it up with whatever you’d like.
Meat and Seafood were at the same station. I think that’s my only real complaint, having an allergy, I really have to be careful that items are not cross contaminated so I stayed with any meats that were the furthest away from the seafood. My allergy is so severe that I have to make sure tongs, or pieces of shellfish haven’t touched my food. It would be great if they could separate this somehow with separate stations or a glass between. The meat was all fresh and kept on ice, a great selection!
Vegetables were the next station. Again for those of us with food allergies, I think that they should have some allergy tongs that are color coded or something so you can use tongs that may have touched meats or seafood items. There was a wide range of veggies to choose from, anything anyone could imagine piling up in your bowl.

The next station was sauces and spices; you had a small bowl to fill with your choices and could get anything from sweet, to mild sauces to something you'd need CO2 fire extinguishers around for. Once you’re done with that you take it up to the main grill. This is where they put on a great show and cook your food in front of you, but I didn’t get that experience with my food as it was taken to the back to their special allergy/vegetarian grill.
Once my food was brought out to the table for me after being cooked, we had brown rice waiting at the table for us as well to add to our dinner. The food…. Amazing! There was also an unlimited soup/salad station to add to your dinner as well… My kids were even given special chop sticks to make it easier to try to eat with them.
We had a great dinner out as a family, definitely a place I’ll return to in the future. The staff was having a great time and seemed to enjoy their jobs; they were happy and friendly and were around whenever you needed something. The restaurant itself was a great atmosphere with great music playing, very clean and welcoming.
bd's Mongolian Grill is now on my top restaurant list!

Can you not read?
Does anyone know what NO SOLICITING means anymore? I mean really, in the past few weeks I’ve had 2 ‘sales’ solicitations and a few religious solicitations as well. There’s a big, black NO SOLICITING sign on my front door, but I guess either A. they can’t read, or B. they choose to be asshats about it and ignore the sign…
What really gets me is that these religious solicitors don’t think they’re soliciting at all. I’m sorry but coming to my home uninvited trying to get me to come to your church or to join your religion, in my books is soliciting….
I’d rather have a bunch of direct mail marketing at least it’s easier to get rid of, or keep if I choose to do so.

A Camping we will go... uh wait a minute...
So what’s the one thing you really need when you’re taking a camping trip? Luggage CHECK! Bug spray CHECK! Sunscreen CHECK! Sleeping Bags CHECK…. I can go on and on with the checklist, heck we even have fire extinguishers (for the RV of course). But the one thing we STILL don’t have is a Tent! We do have a small RV going with us, but it’s my parents and not nearly large enough to accommodate all of us, so we need a tent.
We still haven’t bothered to buy one though, gosh tents are EXPENSIVE!!! We’ve been looking around, and I think we’ve settled on a 6 man tent that we’ll probably end up buying, but I would like a larger one, the more room the better in my opinion.
So when I was informed there was another tent giveaway going on, I jumped on the chance to enter and will continue entering daily until it’s over! Serendipity Mommy is giving away a 9 man Eureka! tent!!!! That’s more than enough room for us, and I would be THRILLED if I was able to win this!!
The giveaway runs until July 12, 2010 and guess what? That’s MY BIRTHDAY!! So what an awesome birthday present it would be if I won this giveaway. Not that I’m holding my breath, there are a ton of entries already and I haven’t been too lucky in the giveaway department as of late, so I’ll just hope that maybe I’ll get a lucky streak and win this.
You can enter too, if you must….. lol…. Just head over to Serendipity Mommy and take a look at her Euraka! Tent giveaway, or if you’d like she’s got a Summer Staycation event going on with a lot more prizes and giveaways to enter, so maybe you should go enter one of those so there’s less entries in the tent giveaway. HA HA HA! Just kidding….

Finding Alternative Ways to Exercise...
Finding alternative ways to stay healthy sometimes can seem overwhelming, but it’s the simplest things we can do to keep our bodies moving. Whether it be taking the stairs instead of the elevator, doing more yard work, or just taking a brisk walk, there are so many things we can do. I know for me, it takes a little more though, I tend to get very bored doing smaller things like that, especially around the house. I’ve been looking into a few things lately including martial arts.
There are thousands of different martial arts that exist and the movements aren’t always about contact. It’s quickly becoming a popular way to keep your body healthy! If you’re looking for non-contact martial arts something like Tai Chi may be for you. This is an ancient art form from China and it’s meant to be a meditative form of exercise but gives you both physical and mental health benefits at the same time.
As with regular exercise, knowing your goal is key to choosing what’s best for you. For a great strength development or fat burn you’ll want to look into something a little more physical and with more movements. Activities such as Kung Fu, Kickboxing and Capoeira are a great choice.
If this is something you’d be interested in finding more about, look around at your local martial arts center, find a good instructor one who is focused on a particular style with lots of background. Look around, talk to the instructors and ask the students before you decide to jump right on in.
Being able to practice martial arts will give you some big time benefits, and with researching this I’m finding it more and more attractive, now it’s just time to find which style is best for me. Researching with Google and using YouTube to find videos is very helpful.

Cheesecake, my big weakness...
Last night we had an amazing dessert! I’d like to say that dinner was amazing as well, and it was, but the dessert, oh my god!!!
About a month ago I went to a Homemade Gourmet party at a friend’s house. While there we got to sample some of the yummy foods that they had to order, not everything but some stuff. Really good stuff! Including an Amaretto flavored cheesecake. Now I’m not really an amaretto fan, usually I can’t stand it, but I tried the cheesecake because I’m a huge cheesecake fan, and it was SOOOOO GOOOD!
I was sure I was going to order some of that mix. That was until I saw that they had a Cool
Lemonade Cheesecake!! The amaretto was something now thrown to the back of my brain. Cool Lemonade Cheesecake it was! So, yesterday I went to pick up the mix that was finally in, as well as a few other spices and mixes that I purchased. Of course though, I had the mix in hands, I had to pick up the other ingredients to make it, that night!
It was so easy to do. Once you have the mix, I just had to get a graham cracker crust, cream cheese (which I bought low fat), and cool whip (no sugar). Got home, mixed it up and took a taste… SOOO GOOOD!!! The girls weren’t sure that they were going to like it. My one daughter proudly exclaimed “I don’t like cheesecake!” but once she saw the mix, she wanted to try it, and she found out she was very wrong!
As they licked the beaters and the spatula and the bowl, I seriously thought I was going to have to learn some self defense to get to that cheesecake that they’d try to eat it all before it even set in the fridge for a bit!
Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. The cheesecake set, we had it for dessert and it was HEAVEN! I’m definitely going to have to order some more of that mix because well, it’s almost all gone already *blush*.

Clothing...
So I was shopping today, found myself in TJ Maxx for about an hour or more, trying to find something cute for the family reunion coming up that we’re going to. But I found…. NOTHING! All they had were old lady looking clothes, nothing cute, except for maybe one top that I found. So I ended up getting clothes for both the girls and a shirt for hubby, me I ended up with NOTHING!
It’s so hard to find cute urban clothes in plus sizes in stores around here that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Maybe I’ll just wait till we get to Chicago and go shopping there.
