SPANGENBERGER, Henry (Hank) Peacefully at Wentworth Heights Nursing Home, on Friday, June 26, 2009, in his 86th year. Predeceased by his wife Betty. Loving father to Harry (Pam) and daughter Mary (Don). Sadly missed by his loving grandchildren Jennifer (Derek), Eric (Tara), Gina (Rodney) and Anthony. Also mourned by his great-grandchildren Jessica, Ben, Lyric and Aria. According to his wishes Cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank the staff of Wentworth Heights Nursing Home and St. Peter's Hospital for their compassionate care.It's with great sadness that I have to tell you guys that my Grandfather has passed away. While I'm lucky that I could spend the last week of his life with him, it's something I'd never want to experience again. Having to watch a loved one lifeless and struggling to survive is probably an image I'll never get out of my head again. To watch someone die, isn't something I'd want to wish upon anyone, it's heartbreaking.
I'm glad that my girls got to say goodbye, and I'm glad he was able to communicate if only for 1 day, 1 time with myself and my oldest even if it was just with the movement of his eyes. I'll miss my Grandfather so much and I hope it's a long long time before either of the girls have to experience such a loss of another loved one in our lives.
R.I.P. Grandpa! We miss you and love you.

I'm sorry for your loss. It wasn't long ago that my Pop Pop passed too.
As for what you experienced, my hubby and stepson did as well with my mother in law and they say the image of that is something they will forever remember.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I totally understand what it's like to lose a grandparent like that I've experienced the same thing. Take care of yourself and your feelings then relish in the good and loving memories.
