The girls have been asking to adopt a puppy this Christmas. Although we’d like to adopt one eventually, Christmas time just doesn’t seem like the right fit, or time for us to adopt a puppy. One thing I can give them this Christmas though is the ability to adopt an ocean animal.
Oceana has created an Adopt A Creature Program which allows you to adopt an ocean animal and give a gift to someone. This fun and meaningful gift is for all ages and generates funds for Oceana’s efforts to protect coral reefs, address climate change, protect sea creatures and promote a healthy and abundant ocean.
The Adopt A Creature set offers shoppers up to 6 sea creature cookie cutters and/or 4 sea creature plus toys that you can give as gifts, and then virtually adopt a creature in someone else’s name. Gift recipients will then receive an adoption certificate, creature facts and a sugar cookie recipe with the cookie cutter of the creature you’ve adopted.
We got to adopt a Sea Turtle and received not only the adoption certificate but also a sea turtle cookie cutter as well as an Oceana oven mitt. The girls were thrilled, although they were wondering when we would get the sea turtle, I had to explain just a little bit to them what adopting the sea turtle actually meant.
For as little as $35 you can adopt a sea creature of your choice and receive a cookie cutter, recipe card and personalized adoption certificate, there are various other adoption prices and packages as well for various other amounts.
If you’re looking for a unique gift for someone who loves great causes, the ocean, or animals you can view all the creature options for Oceana’s Adopt A Creature by visiting www.oceana.org/adopt.
