My Life....

So sorry for the lack of blogging lately guys. I know there are some giveaways I have to announce the winners for, which I PROMISE, I will get to by the end of the day today.

We're going through something really rough right now, I''m sure some of you can relate, and if you have any advice please feel free to pass it along.

Interstate Connections is a company that services Truckers and Travelers in truck stops and travel centers, mainly the Travel America and Petro centers. What they do is they sell wireless services to people including AT&T, Sirius, XM and other services. Rodney has been with this company for about 5 years now. He was brought over to work for them from another company, they moved us from Southern Indiana up here to Toledo, Ohio. He was brought in at the top at a District Manager position, making a lot of money per year. We settled here, bought a house, continued our family, and have had some struggles within the past 5 years up and down with the company but overall we've been pretty good.

Rodney had just acquired 2 new stores, one of them was less than an hour away from his parents house, this was great news as we could travel with Rodney to work, and stay at his mom's house for a few days while he was up doing his thing and the girls could see their grandparents and cousin's etc. So last week, this is what we did. Rodney went to work, we stayed at my In Laws house.

That is until Wednesday August 6 at 3:00pm CST. Rodney got a phone call with the news that as of that day at 3pm everyone was out of a job, that Interstate Connections was closing it's doors. No notice no nothing. As of 3pm they were all unemployed. The kicker, they wanted all the Area Managers (which Rodney had been promoted to in February) to go to each one of their stores and fire people, even though in about an hour they were all unemployed, and even though Rodney had 8 stores in his district that were all around Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. There was no way he'd get to them all. They also wanted the area managers to properly box up everything in each kiosk and do some paperwork and send it all back to corporate, remember this is all AFTER they are already 'let go'. What a great company, they said that if they did this they'd give them $500. Not worth Rodney's time or gas to drive cross states to do this.

So, the past few days have been really hard on us. We decided to stay at his parents house until Sunday night and we started back home. Being with his parents helped a lot I think, we had the time to let things settle in while not having to worry about other things, unemployment has already been filed, Rodney has already had a few phone calls about job leads and we've just been applying for anything and everything out there.

I just wanted to let you all know what is going on, why I haven't been active. My mind is just not set into blogging right now. I will announce the winners by end of tonight to my other giveaways, as well, I will be writing some great reviews and have some giveaways going on very soon, I promise. Just need to take some time for our family business right now and get things back up and running before we fall flat on our face. Being jobless with no savings, a mortgage, car payment and other bills is not something fun. We'll be ok for this month, hopefully something comes a long soon before we start to feel the crunch.

Sorry this is going on for you right now, I can only imagine how tough it is. Oddly enough, I got a job with Interstate Connections 4 years ago, but I wasn't certain that it was what I wanted. I ended up getting hired where I am now and never looked back.

I'm sure that your hubby will find something soon. The fact that he stayed with them for 5 years will look great on his resume. So few people have longevity at any employer nowadays.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

I'm so sorry you all are having to deal with this. It sucks that there is such a lack of job security for just about anyone these days. Companies just don't seem to care about their employees. I can't believe they had the nerve to ask him to do all that other stuff AFTER they fired him. Sending lots of luck for you all to find solutions that work quickly.

Some nerve a company has to fire someone then expect them to complete final tasks for them! If I come across any ways to help you make a little cash online, I'll send them your way!

Gina, I know it's not much consolation but my husband and I have been through this numerous times in our 28 yrs of marriage.

We've been "comfortable," "getting by," and "behind the 8-ball" many times. One of the things that kept me going was the old saying, "Sometimes we have to have a door closed in our face to look for the open doors." At times, the open doors were easy to find; other times, more difficult.

You can only do what you can, but kids eating come first ... everything else is second!

Believe it or not, "this too, shall pass" and just be a memory one day. Hang in there, and know your family loves you whether you have money or not -- and that's a blessing in itself!

Praying for open doors that your husband and you can walk through soon!
