Sick of these kids and their disaster of a room...

So yesterday I kind of was in a funk, and it seems to be continuing on to this morning.

My daughter had soccer yesterday which was great, she’s being way more aggressive and getting in there with those boys (she’s the only girl on the team) and getting that ball. However, what got me in a funk wasn’t her soccer game, it was the constant fighting, arguing and yelling that happened before and after the game that did it…

The girls REFUSE to clean up their room. Sure, they’re 4 and 7 but the room is beyond a mess. I’ve cleaned that room from top to bottom one
too many times and now it’s time they take on their responsibility of doing it. You’d think I was asking them to go and get an herbal colon cleansing or something with the dramatics that happens over asking them to clean their room.

Like seriously, I should take a picture but even *I* am too ashamed to post that on my blog with the way their room looks, picture one of those hoarder’s room that you see on the show hoarders… It seriously is THAT BAD! Toys, clothes, books, stuffed animals you name it it’s in a huge pile all over the floor; I can’t even walk in their room…

It’s taking me all I have to not just go up there and do it myself. I have to literally sit here on the floor in front of their room in the hallway to make sure that they clean; otherwise they fight or play and don’t get anything done.

We’ve tried rewards, chore charts, consequences you name it, it doesn’t matter…. So hubby is taking it into his own hands and they’ve been warned. My oldest has soccer today at 4, they have until 3pm to clean that room from top to bottom, we pick up hubby from work after soccer and when he gets home if it’s not done, anything and everything (besides clothing) that’s not in its place goes in the garbage…

I HATE having that done, all that money on toys, I can’t do it…. So I think I’ll be dropping the girls and hubby off at home and going somewhere for a bit, because I’ll be completely surprised if this room gets done at all…

Anyone have any other suggestions because we’re out of them, and honestly as much as a fight, tantrum and crying that’s going to be done once their things go in the garbage, it won’t me a damn thing to them tomorrow morning….

Take all the toys out of the room leave no toy to be discovered. If the girls keep the room clean on a daily basis give one toy each if not they can learn to play with each other or do nothing no tv movies or fun stuff. Let the girls earn the privilege to play with those exceptional toys that they have. Each day its clean a toy or movie or show by weeks end you will no what whats. This worked on Dad many years ago..... love Grand Ma......
