It smells great, but it tastes like......

For Christmas this year my Nonna decided it would be a good idea to give me a bread machine. I think I may have mentioned it to her or my mom before that I wanted one, I did, I thought it would be great to make my own bread. However, we did have a bread machine at one point in time, and I gave it away because I never used it.

This time, I vow to actually use my bread machine! My only issue, absolutely no where to put it! Seriously no counter space for it, I had to sit it on one of the kitchen chairs to be able to plug it in and use it.

Alas, I decided to give it a shot today, and followed a recipe in the instruction booklet for whole wheat cheese bread, sounded good enough. Got all the ingredients into the bread machine and away it went to work.

The bread smelled great thought-out the house, I thought woohoo! I did something right for once.

Time was up and the bread came out, smelled really good! We let it cool down and the girls couldn’t wait to get the first slice. They absolutely loved it, even asked for more which they had with dinner. I went to taste it and BLECK! It’s disgusting, I honestly don’t know how these children are eating this bread, it’s gross….

So my first attempt is a big FAIL! This is where you all come in…

I NEED BREAD MACHINE RECIPES!!!! So if you have any good ones, healthy ones, pass them along to me, for each one I try, I’ll post on my blog with pictures and a link back to you as well.d

I used to buy box mixes from the store when we had a bread machine they were pretty good. I tried I don't know how many times to make banana bread in the bread machine and it never turned out good. There are quite a few on the allrecipes.com
Good luck

I know my Sister in Law uses the one we bought a ton but she has to have gluten free foods so that is a big reason we bought it for her. I'll be back with some links I can find that I saved for myself to try.

I have no bread machine recipes. We got a bread machine for our wedding...almost six years ago...and have never even used it! Lol!

I make some whole wheat bread, but it's the old fashioned way.

Good luck!

I have a bread machine and use it, but only for making the dough and doing the rising. Bake the bread in the oven. It will make a huge difference. I mostly use mine to make rolls and pizza dough. I know the pizza one in on my blog. I will have to look for roll recipe. I think I got it from allrecipes.com. I got my bread machine because for a year I had to go on a soy, dairy and nut free diet. I was nursing and my daughter was allergic to those foods. I would suggest checking ot allrecipes, com and baking the bread in your oven not the machine.

I have a bread machine that makes a two pound loaf. I use it a couple of times a week. One of my favorite recipes is for Pepperoni Bread:

1.5 cups water
4.25 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons dry milk
2 tablespoons butter
1.5 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons yeast
(that's the basic bread recipe)

Put all that in the machine and when it beeps that it's time to add "extras," add

1/2 cup diced pepperoni
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
a few sun-dried tomato pieces, diced

Then, just let it finish in the machine. As soon as it's done, take the hopper out of the machine and sprinkle a small handful of mozzarella cheese on the top.

I like to serve it with a bowl of hot maranara sauce for dipping.
