Mmmm.... Prunes! Yes they are YUMMY!

Many of us are looking for foods that give us those extra health benefits, but one food that’s often overlooked is prunes. I know, not the most attractive food, or the best tasting, you always think of prunes and how your grandparents drink prune juice to stay a little more ‘regular’ not something a lot of younger people really think about.

However, Sunsweet has come up with Sunsweet Ones, individually wrapped prunes, a way to get more people to enjoy the benefits of prunes without the stigma attached to them. Prunes are great, especially for this time of year as they’ve got high antioxidants and for those of us trying to get more fiber in our diets, prunes win there too!

I admit, I wasn’t too sure how I was going to react to eating a prune, never mind my kids but I was up to the challenge and just thought of all the benefits, I unwrapped my individual prune and popped it in my mouth, surprisingly it was great! Very moist, so full of flavor, I really liked it. The challenge was the girls, I took 1 individually wrapped prune and the first thing to come out of their mouth was “EWW what IS that?” They each had a bit and their faces were hilarious, needless to say, they’re not fans of these prunes but that’s ok at least they tried it and that’s more than I could ask.

Hubby also tried them, and well, the best way to say is he choked it down. He’s not a fan of prunes, he said they were ok but he still wouldn’t eat them on a daily basis, however I would and I have, I’m a huge fan!

Sunsweet Ones have been a daily staple for me now, when this canister runs out I’ll be sure to buy more, the health benefits and the taste has won me over! You can visit www.sunsweet.com for more information, or if your looking for more information on prunes and their health benefits you can visit www.pop-a-prune.com.

A handful of nutrient rich prunes a day may help bone metabolism and the reversal of bone loss for people with osteoporosis. They may also lead to improved bone formation.
