I need a vacation!!!!

You may read the title of this post and think to yourself, um.....Didn't you just get back from vacation? The answer to that is YES, you are not loosing your mind, I did just return from our very first family summer vacation. While we had such a great time, I can really understand the phrase "I need a vacation from vacation" now.

It seems as a mom, no matter how much fun you have while your away on vacation, you really don't get a vacation. I still cleaned, still did laundry, still was taking care of the kids, we just had a few more 'fun' things involved in our daily life for a week or so.

We did have such a great time tho, it's very hard to get back into the swing of things back home. We ended up in Gatlinburg,TN for a while and took the girls to Ripley's Aquarium, which was just amazing and so much fun. If you ever get the chance to get out there that's one thing you just need to see. It was amazing and the girls were just in awe, they loved it. We're already planning another trip out to Gatlinburg again such a family friendly place to visit with so many things to do. Literally there's something for everyone there of all ages.

Our destination to Atlanta seemed to take FOREVER!!!!!!! But once we got there, it was so nice. We stayed at the Embassy Suites and it was so great! Our room was amazing, a separate bedroom/living area so you could have that privacy from the kids, and/or watch tv without disturbing them while they slept. We also got a really great made to order breakfast that was free in the mornings, not just your run of the mill continental breakfast but a full on breakfast omelette's, bacon, hash browns, cereal, yogurt, etc etc etc, whatever you could think of for breakfast was there. They even had a 'happy hour' of sorts. Every night from 5:30 - 7:30 snacks, and drinks (yes even alcohol) was served in the lounge again, for free... How in heaven was I, it's just too bad I couldn't fully take advantage of the free drinks having to take care of the kids and having my in laws there as well :(. Oh well, we just had a great time, and that was just the hotel.

We took the girls to the Georgia Aquarium, not only were they excited to go there as we watch the web cam they have online all the time, but I was super excited as well. After going through the enormous line just to purchase tickets and then the security check the aquarium was huge!!! The best points were the really big football field size tanks where they had so many different types of fish, rays and sharks. It was simply amazing, I could have stayed there all day. To tell you the truth, that was probably the best part of that aquarium. For the price, I expected a lot more to it, maybe it was just because it was so hot, there were just hordes of people, we didn't seem to enjoy this aquarium nearly as much as we enjoyed the Ripley's Aquarium in TN, it was a bit of a disappointment really.

But I won't bore you with the HUNDREDS of pictures we have or all the other stories I could go on and on about. I did celebrate my birthday there and yes, I DID get my tattoo and I just LOVE IT! I was able to get to City of Ink and get it done, despite the few HOURS of wait time we had (since I didn't make an appointment and only did a walk in, this place is amazingly busy), I was not disappointed, Julia did my 'work of art' and it's just beautiful! But let me say......IT DID HURT!! It hurt A LOT!!! Maybe it was because of the location (it's on my right leg just above my ankle), and because it's not a small tat at all, but those friends of mine who LIED to me and said it didn't hurt :P to them LOL. I cringed, it hurt so bad. Like someone was taking a razor blade to my leg! It's all better now tho of course, it just itches like crazy! So that was my lovely vacation, we're hoping to take the girls camping next month and I'll be headed to Canada for a week or so as well in August, so our summer trips are not over just yet!

Gina, I just love your tattoo!! You know, all the time I've been living here I never heard of City of Ink, I'll have to check them out. I'm thinking about getting another tat soon.
I know what you mean about needing a vacation after being on one. Us Mommies really never go on vacation when we take the kids. Overall, glad you got to do it!

Welcome back Missy! Looks like your family had a blast. I love your tattoo, but I'm not going to lie, I'd have been terrified of the pain. Glad it didn't hurt.
